The Studio
Background
Bernard and Sonyo have successfully managed and organized salsa/mambo events throughout the US. Bernard is also a professional DJ and sound engineer with his talents in re-mixing and authoring compilations in Latin music. In NYC, Bernard is the founder and director of "MamboCaliente Nights" held in NYC since 1999.
On November 2005, Bernard and Sonyo opened their first dance school in Orange County, DanceSport California in the city of Garden Grove, CA. Strategically located at the border of LA and OC, DanceSport CA is easily accessible via all the major CA freeways. DanceSport CA specializes in social dances featuring salsa, mambo, cha-cha-cha, bachata, afro-cuban, afro-samba, west coast swing, lindy hop as well as special Pilates and Yoga for dancers. DanceSport CA offers all levels of social dances as well as specialty workshops by the diverse staff and guest instructors. Bernard and Sonyo hope to open additional locations in other local counties of California.
Teaching Style

His teaching is simple, yet precise. He can describe and demonstrate in laymen’s terms a seemingly impossible move, and make it actually look and feel good, the first try! He can take any woman, novice or pro, and place her into intricate turn patterns that feel smooth as butter - making it look like they’ve been dancing together for years."
The style of teaching comes from the idea of combining good technique, "Economy of Motion" , and your own personal style and interpretation. Moves are broken down and meant to be fun and light in order to get you ready to hit the clubs.
The Ballroom
DanceSport CA's beautiful ballroom. The floating dance floor that feels like your dancing on a cloud and you'll find you can dance longer. The pro-sound system and lighting will welcome you as you retire from a long day of work. The ballroom is also equiped with storage benches to convieniently store your shoes or other personal items while you visit us.
